Sometimes, it's tough to deny these things.

happy you made it

The party was in full swing. Some people milling around the keg, and some were leafing through the crates of records and CD’s. It was funny that even at parties people assumed these positions. Every party has a similar scene. The chatters stayed at the beer, the musicians that came from the show earlier were the ones eyeballing the alphabetized albums that were displayed on the shelves. She wandered through the kitchen. She was promised that the hard stuff would be on hand because she hated the taste of beer. She thought the host of the party was awfully sweet to do such a thing for her, so as she searched for this hidden collection of alcohol, she would say thanks for the gesture.
She found the bottles before she found him, mixing some of the rum into store brand cola. She wandered back into the house and watched a beer pong game commence until she felt a hand touch her back. “I’m so glad you made it,” he told her. She smiled. “I’m glad I made it too.”
Sometimes, the simplest of comments were the best of all.
